(SCL) Spatial Computing Lab
The Spatial Computing Lab houses 8 high power desktops geared towards Virtual Production of all kinds. From Game Development or Video Editing to Projection Mapping and Motion Capture, the SCL can do it all.
Headsets and Devices
Mircosoft HoloLense 2
6 Devices Available.
Can be used as a standalone device, great for dedicated AR.
Quest 2 – VR (Non-Tethered)

Benefits of a Vive Pro vs Meta Quest:
- Much higher accuracy for movement
- Zero drift and permanent spatial locking
- Eye Tracking
- Easier to build for
How to set up the HTC Vive Virtual reality
The SCL has the capability to run two HTC Vive Pro Eye headsets simultaneously. Talk to a technician and they can loan you one or both headsets.
Motion Capture System
The SCL use 8 Optitrack Cameras (Prime 13W) to optically capture a volume contained in the truss. Optical Motion Capture (Mocap) is used to capture high accuracy or speed tracking data from many infrared points. This data can be sent to any of the 8 desktops real-time within the SCL.
These points allow you to:
- Capture and create game animations
- Capture movement data of a subject
- Track the position of objects in 3D space
If you would like to use this Motion Capture space, please talk to the technicians about the setup and use for the gear and license key.
BlackMagic Video System
The server rack between the desktops houses an entire BlackMagic Production Suite.
- HyperDeck Studio Mini
- UltraStudio 4k
- Motu HDX-SDI
- Atem Mini Pro
- Xenyx QX1622
- Full SDI Converters
All this gear can be used with our BlackMagic Cameras to Capture, Edit and Export virtually any type of video you might need. The video system also allows you to capture every single screen in real-time to create a professional conference with live editing.
